Excitement was the order of the day as action got underway in the Junior & Major divisions of the Junior Baseball League of Nassau’s 2006 Play-Off Series.


In win-or-go-home games in both divisions, three out of the four Games went down to the wire.

NATIONALS 8

In the most exciting game of the day between the #2 Seed Nationals and the #3 Royals, The Nationals went into the bottom of the sixth inning trailing 7-3. After loading the bases with two outs – Hilton Bowleg hit a Grand Slam Home Run to tie the game. After a single and stolen base by Sherman Ferguson, Brandon Murray lined a walk-off single to left field to score Ferguson and win the game, 8-7.


TWINS 10

DODGERS 0



The Pennant Winners and # 1 Seed Twins shut out the # 4 Seed Dodgers in the early game.


The Twins and Nationals will play Game #1 of the 3 Game Championship Series at 5 PM on Wednesday May 31.

INDIANS 1



In a pitchers duel between Paul Smith Jr. and Matthew Kemp, the Pennant winners and # 1 Seed edged the # 4 Seed Indians 2-1.



YANKEES 5

ATHLETICS 4



Despite two-run home-runs from Jeffrey Woodside and Timmy Smith,the # 3 Seed Yankees edged the # 2 Seed Athletics 5-4. Ian Banks' outstanding pitching shut down the big bats of the Athletics, and was the key to the win.


The Tigers and Yankees will play Game #1 of the 3 Game Championship Series at 5 PM on Wednesday May 31.

MARLINS 3



The Rockies bounced back from the opening game loss to the Marlins won Game # 2 to even the Championship Series at one game each.


The final game (# 3) will be played on June 10 after the BBF Junior National Tournament.

PHILLIES 2



The Angels completed a 2 game sweep of the Championship Series by defeating the Phillies 12-2 and have been crowned 2006 Coach Pitch Champions.
